Hi, I’m James Groh. I’m a reporter and digital consultant for WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee. My work focuses on innovating the way we tell stories for a modern audience. This includes platform-specific content, nontraditional stories, inclusive journalism, and unique production styles.
I train reporters, anchors, and meteorologists on how to adjust their workflow to maximize daily content output without sacrificing quality. I teach them what makes a compelling digital video and how to make it.
I was named the 2022 Wisconsin Broadcaster Association’s (WBA) Young Professional of the Year, won three WBAs for the My Block series, and was part of the team that won a regional Edward R. Murrow award for the best digital platform.
I pitch, produce, film, and edit my own stories. They are published on our broadcast, website, and social platforms. On top of that, I continue to develop the long-form series ‘My Block’ that challenges established narratives and provides an intimate look into other’s lives.
My goal is to break the traditional news mold and meet viewers in a fresh and engaging manner.
